Compliance and Identity Verification

You do not need to complete identity verification to use HYFY as a social app. You can post, interact, earn Karma, and use available in-app features without it.

Identity verification is required only when you choose to take part in the optional HYFY token claim process. It helps HYFY keep claims fair by reducing bots, duplicate accounts, and claims from people who are not eligible.

How Private Verification Works

HYFY uses Privado ID. When you begin verification, the app creates a personal identity wallet for you. This is separate from the Polygon wallet that receives HYFY tokens.

An approved verification partner checks the information needed to confirm your identity. After the check is complete, your identity wallet receives a private digital credential showing that you passed.

When HYFY later needs to confirm that you are eligible, your identity wallet creates a zero-knowledge proof, also called a ZK proof.

Here is the simple idea:

Imagine proving that you are old enough to enter an event without showing the organizer your birthday, address, or identity document. The organizer receives a trustworthy yes or no, not your complete personal file.

That is what the ZK proof does. It lets HYFY check the required result without asking you to share all of the private details again.

What Stays Private

During the normal claim process, HYFY does not need your passport image, identity number, full date of birth, facial image, or home address.

These details are not placed:

  • on the Polygon blockchain;
  • inside your public HYFY token claim;
  • in public tokenomics reports; or
  • on public dashboards.

The approved verification partner may still need to see identity documents or a selfie during the original check. ZK protects what is shared with HYFY afterward; it does not remove the need for the verification partner to perform the first check properly.

What HYFY Records

HYFY keeps a small result connected to your account so the claim system knows whether the identity check passed. This can include:

  • verified, pending, failed, or expired status;
  • when the check was completed;
  • whether the credential is still valid; and
  • a privacy-friendly code that helps stop the same person from claiming through several accounts.

HYFY uses one verification status for all claim decisions. This avoids a situation where one part of the app says you are verified while another part says you are not.

The Claim Journey

  1. You choose to access the optional HYFY claim feature.
  2. HYFY creates or opens your Privado ID identity wallet.
  3. You complete the identity check with the approved verification partner.
  4. Your identity wallet receives proof that the check was completed.
  5. When needed, the wallet privately proves that you meet HYFY's identity requirements.
  6. HYFY checks the result and updates your verification status.
  7. The remaining wallet, timing, account, and monthly claim checks continue.

You do not have to repeat the full document check every time HYFY asks for proof. Your identity wallet can use its valid credential to answer the request, unless the credential has expired, been withdrawn, or needs to be renewed.

A Simple Example

Alice uses HYFY and earns Karma without completing identity verification. Nothing changes in her normal social experience.

Later, Alice decides to relay eligible Karma for a HYFY claim. The app creates her Privado ID identity wallet and guides her through the identity check. After approval, the wallet receives her private credential.

HYFY asks the wallet, "Has Alice completed a valid identity check?" The wallet returns a ZK proof that answers the question without sending Alice's identity documents to the claim system or publishing them on Polygon.

Alice must still link her Polygon wallet, submit before the deadline, stay within the budget shown in the app, and pass the remaining claim safeguards. Passing identity verification does not guarantee that she will receive HYFY.

If Verification Is Delayed

Using HYFY on both a phone and the web, changing your device, or travelling does not automatically make you a fraudulent user. Unusual activity may temporarily pause a token-sensitive action while HYFY checks what happened.

A review should not silently delete legitimate Karma. If the activity is genuine, the user can complete the requested security check or appeal and regain access.

If Privado ID or the verification partner is temporarily unavailable, normal social activity can continue. The token claim step waits until HYFY can confirm a valid proof instead of bypassing the safety check.

What ZK Does Not Mean

ZK verification improves privacy, but it does not make the complete process anonymous:

  • the verification partner sees the information needed for the original identity check;
  • HYFY knows which HYFY account passed the check; and
  • users still need to protect access to their HYFY account and identity wallet.

HYFY's privacy notice and the verification partner's privacy terms explain how information is stored, protected, recovered, and deleted.

Who Can Claim

Passing the identity check is only one requirement. Token claims can also depend on age, location, account standing, linked-wallet ownership, deadlines, monthly capacity, and local rules.

Some locations may not support HYFY token claims even though the normal social app remains available. Identity verification also cannot prove that every social action is genuine, so HYFY combines it with account history, activity checks, and claim limits.
